Judith Owen has shared “Inside Out,” a new single that captures the joyful heart of her album Suit Yourself. Built around a soulful groove and lifted by gospel harmonies, the track features Grammy Award-winning musician Jamison Ross and the Tonya Boyd-Cannon Choir.
The single stands as one of the clearest expressions of the musical world Owen created in New Orleans. Suit Yourself was recorded at Esplanade Studios and brings together jazz, blues, big band and soul traditions. On “Inside Out,” those influences come together in a way that feels both rooted in history and driven by Owen’s contemporary songwriting voice.
Owen has said the song speaks to her evolution as both a musician and a person. She connects its message to the ability to find happiness and compassion during difficult times, something she believes New Orleans understands deeply. By inviting Tonya Boyd-Cannon and her choir to appear on the track, Owen wanted to bring that sense of communal celebration directly into the recording.
Jamison Ross helped shape the song as co-writer and drummer. Owen is also taking the music to audiences live, with scheduled performances in New Orleans, Nashville, New York, Berne, Wien, Brussels, Heerlen, Leverkusen, Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart and several Danish cities, including a Copenhagen Jazz Festival appearance.
