It’s official- the 90’s are back! While we’re still trying to work out exactly what it means for an entire decade to be ‘in’ again, we’re stoked to here more and more artists turning to the decade that birthed Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Britpop and some of the best House tracks ever made (Although we’ll keep our fingers crossed that the boyband trend remains firmly in 1999). Here’s a list of a small selection of emerging artists who are keeping it retro with their 90s inspired music.
1.Love Ghost
This LA-based band have an alternative 90s grunge rock sound, and on no track is it clearer than their new release ‘Nowhere’. The riffs are clearly inspired by Alice in Chains, and we can also discern more than a touch of the Smashing Pumpkins’ colliding melodies.
2.Metropoly

‘Take it Easy’ is as smooth and slick as the name suggests, and sounds like what we imagine would have been the result if Aaliyah and D’Angelo released a duet.
3.Amey St. Cyr
It is only natural that Amey St. Cyr would look to the 90s to find her House sound: she had her own success as a backing vocalist and support act to 90s dance legends such as The Thompson Twins, Baby Ford and Audio Deluxe. Her first solo release , ‘Wild World’ is an homage to the era, with its same upbeat, clubby vibe.
4.Bruno Mars feat. Cardi B
This song sounds like it has sprung straight from the 90s, taking elements of R&B, 90s Rap and Boyband pop. The fun video displays some of the decades finest fashion too, whilst also paying tribute to the classic ‘90s sketch show, In Living Color.
5. Woolfman + J. Stew
If you’d have told us that ‘Listen to the Beat’ was a 1998 techno track, we’d believe you. This retro sounding track captures the late 90s dance scene perfectly, while keeping the production style thoroughly modern.
