21 year old Brussel-based singer and composer Noah Roovers, AKA InHibit, has taken his cue from some of the most influential alt-rock artists over the last three decades as inspiration for his latest single.
Titled ‘The Quest’, his new track looks to establish him as one of the most challenging, under-the-radar acts to emerge from Europe.
Combining ear-twisting melodies, a healthy slug of guitar and a truly visceral video, it’s the perfect introduction to the world InHibit.
InHibits’ uncompromising tracks and videos, including last year’s release ‘Shadows of Fire’ , earmarks him as one to watch over the coming months.
The artist describes himself as “something of an enigma”. He’s also primarily a poet, but has studied the piano since the age of five.
It is not just music which he holds a talent for either; as a former racing driver and a qualified lawyer, InHibit’s music is as unconventional as his background.
The video to ‘The Quest’ presents him as a true outsider, decorated with some stunning, perhaps even startling, scarification (which he is keen to point out, is make-up and not real). We’d hope so too, Noah.
The video is hurtling past 400,000 YouTube views in less than one month.
‘The Quest’ sees InHibit examine the hypocritical reactions of those around him to his real persona, compared to the looks of those when he is hidden behind a mask.
The song has some stunning guitar and vocals which replicate those of the late 90’s alt-rock scene.
By incorporating blasts of electro-rock, InHibit creates his own unique, alternative sound. But perhaps it his the lyrical content and themes which challenge our current world view which makes the artist stand out from the crowd.
‘The Quest’ is only one of a number of planned releases by InHibit. The artist composes the tracks himself, which feature his incredible keyboard and vocal skills.
The video too was his own creation, featuring his scarification designs and storyboard. InHibit is also planning to release his first book shortly, as well as a collection of his poetry.
