Those who listen to indie and alternative pop music always have a single that they can always stick on to lift their mood and escape from reality. FLYNT’S new single ‘Do I’ does exactly that. The latest release from the indie band, and combines a light-hearted indie sound with electronic music to create a sound which is uniquely FLYNT.
At first glimpse I thought ‘Do I’ seemed like a light-hearted and happy tone, this is the kind of song which would be played at full volume in a film as the main character drives around in the dark with the windows down. As the song goes on, I think you’ll agree, it stays just as enjoyable to listen to.
However what I think FLYNT do so great is that ‘Do I’’s bittersweet lyricism is almost melancholic as it speaks about heartbreak, but it’s juxtaposed by the optimism in the uplifting and positive vibes of the instrumental.
“We basically are obsessed with heartbreak. We love wondering why and how things end up in such a bad way. We get a kick out of writing songs that sound energetic and happy… but really, really aren’t.”
I’m not the only one that thinks this band is going places. The Northern indie-pop band played an acclaimed sessions for BBC Music Introducing in Cumbria at Maida Vale Studios, have enjoyed multiple features on BBC Radio 1, and are set to take the indie world by storm.
