Nickita releases new single to raise awareness of Mother’s Rights

Singer-songwriter Nickita is not only a tour de force musician but an experienced Doula too; a trained companion who supports someone through child-birth related health experiences.

On Mother’s Day, the singer released a stunning new single to raise critical awareness to help mothers and those considering childbirth to make safe and informed decisions throughout the stages of their pregnancy.

‘Breathe Again’ highlights the need for parents to have access to the same midwife and carer support before, during and after pregnancy to spread awareness about the choices available to support the birth of their child.

All proceeds will go directly to the fundraising effort by her organisation, When Push Comes to Shove.

The track is an emotionally charged one. It has to be, with the subject of birthing rights and a mother’s love not being topics you can just brush over.

Nickita takes her own trauma of multiple miscarriages and transforms this pain into a message of hope. She believes that midwifery has become over medicalised which steers away from natural birth. Nickita then completed her training to become a Doula and has since helped countless women. She has supported them in their choices and provided them with critical information about their choices in childbirth.

The song highlights the incredible work of her own pre and antenatal support of her independent midwife, Andy Parker.

How COVID 19 is effecting childbirth

This pandemic has had far reaching effects on every aspect of our lives, including child birth. Some women have also been cautious to attend hospitals due to the risks of catching the virus.

It may mean there is a need for more independent midwives. However, due to lack of funding, this is becoming more and more difficult.

Nickita aims to support mothers by raising the funds necessary to pay for independent midwives to get back to work. Alongside her new single, a documentary film on women’s birthing rights is in pre-production.

Already a hugely experienced singer-songwriter after the release of her debut album in 2008, Nickita’s songs have seen play time around the world on radio, while she’s no stranger to wowing audiences at live events with her extraordinary vocal range.

The songwriter also writes for Sony Music; she is currently working with I.E. Management, who also represent major artists including Robbie Williams and SIA.
